Polymer magnets in sensor applications are a source of magnetic signal. When the magnetic ring or magnet is rotated or moved, the field sensor will register this movement in the form of a change in the magnetic field.

Detection of the magnetic position by means of e.g. Hall sensors is a well-known method of positioning rotary or linearly moving elements using non-contact means. Many sensors offer very accurate resolution and are widely used in many electronic and mechanical control systems – from a simple proximity switch (for example in door or window alarms) to encoder technology for motor control in automotive or aerospace applications.
